The Adoption Centre of Kansas offers complete adoptive services to traditional families wishing to adopt a child or children. Acceptance of an adoptive family by the agency is determined through the submission of an Adoptive Home Study, interviews with agency staff, and other appropriate reference checks. Matching procedures between birth mother and adoptive family is determined by the desires of current birth mother clientele and current adoptive family file status.
Specific services offered to adoptive parents include emotional and legal counsel, drug and medical screening of all birth mothers, handling of financial accounts for birth mother living expenses, intermediate child care for those couples traveling from out-of-town, locating lodging accommodations, completion of inter-state compact requirements, and all other technical and legal requirements necessary for the completion of a successful adoption. In return, adoptive parents must submit an Adoptive Home Study, an informative family photo album, and "Dear Birth Mother" letters prior to the matching process. After a placement has been completed, adoptive families are required to send photos of the child to the agency periodically. Also, adoptive families must be open to follow-up visits and communications from the agency.
